The purpose of this gap analysis is to provide the Indiana State Department of Health with information regarding the current level of preparedness of Indiana hospitals to respond to an influenza pandemic. Specifically, an assessment of hospital resources in the Indiana Homeland Security Districts was conducted to determine current stockpile levels and planned purchases to prepare for a pandemic. Items inventoried include ventilators, ancillary supplies, oxygen, surgical gowns, gloves, masks, respirators, face shields, goggles, IV bags, and body bags. The results of this gap analysis are intended to inform and justify the districts’ grant-funded expenditures for additional supplies and equipment required to adequately prepare for an influenza pandemic.
