IHA offers a software product that makes data analysis a "point and click" proposition. Dimensions is a specialized Cognos PowerPlay™ program customized to provide pre-built reports and charts in a user-friendly Windows environment. Dimensions gives hospitals the ability to instantly create their own customized reports from IHA’s inpatient and outpatient databases. Three simple but powerful capabilities—drill down, "slice and dice," and interactive graphical analysis—allows data to be investigated from any point of view. Now analytical activities are directly relevant to a hospital’s point of view. Hospitals may purchase the inpatient and outpatient data for their markets or the entire state for use with the software. One licensed program can run both inpatient and outpatient data queries. Initially, the databases will have to be run separately. IHA is working to make it possible to run them combined in the future.

Pricing for Dimensions
Software for one computer at hospital site: $2,500 per license year For each additional computer: $2,000 per license year The Dimensions license fee is an annual fee. A three-year commitment is required under the IHA arrangement with the Association of Iowa Hospitals & Health Systems.
