Community Health Needs Assessment Resource Guide
Vision of Health: Hospitals at the Center of Healthy Communities

The Affordable Care Act, enacted in 2010, requires hospital organizations to conduct a CHNA at least once every three taxable years, effective for taxable years beginning after March 23, 2012.

The definitions for compliance with the IRS 990 requirements are vague and to help hospitals understand the complicated requirements, IHA will provide members with resources on the IRS guidelines, implementation timelines, data collection and suggested team leaders for involvement in the process. In addition to providing resources, this section of the IHA website will provide presentations on how to adopt an effective strategy and case studies.
