2017 Patient Safety Awareness Week

Save the Date for Patient Safety Awareness Week

The IHA's Indiana Patient Safety Center is committed to improving patient safety and reducing patient harms across the state. We will be celebrating Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 12-18, empowering all Hoosiers to be engaged in their own health care and educating the public on hot topics in patient safety.

To help you inform your staff, patients and community, we will be developing a toolkit of pre-crafted messaging and resources. This toolkit will be available on Feb. 13 and will be designed to help you lead a Patient Safety Awareness Week campaign at your hospital. The kit will include tools such as a customizable newsletter article, social media messaging and ready-to-post imagery and helpful websites and resources.

Each day throughout the week will have a specific patient safety topic of focus. The calendar for the topics throughout the week are below:

  • Sunday, March 12: Opioid Awareness
  • Monday, March 13: Wake Up: Know your Meds
  • Tuesday, March 14: Get Up: Falls Prevention
  • Wednesday, March 15: Soap Up: Hand Hygiene
  • Thursday, March 16: Safe Antibiotic Usage
  • Friday, March 17: Could it be Sepsis?
  • Saturday, March 18: Safe Infant Sleep Practices

Look for Patient Safety Week updates and the full toolkit in upcoming newsletter.
