​Clostridium difficile infection (C.diff or CDI) is the leading cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and a highly problematic health care-associated infection (HAI) in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. C. diff is also increasingly recognized as a community pathogen. C.diff commonly develops after exposure to antibiotics and new exposure and acquisition of C.diff.
