To accelerate Coalition for Care's progress on patient and family engagement (PFE), IHA implemented a PFE collaborative in 2014. Hospitals completed a commitment form to participate in this collaborative indicating their intention to actively work on adopting as many of the PFE Strategies as possible and to actively participate in the webinars and events, sharing their engagement experiences. We used the AHA's Committee on Research report Engaging Health Care Users: A Framework for Healthy Individuals and Communities as a framework for the collaborative.

Webinar and Open Discussion: Addressing Barriers to Patient and Family Engagement
Have you ever wondered …
- How can we get patients and families engaged in their care?
- Once we get patients engaged, how do we keep them engaged?
- Where do we find the time to engage patients and families in a meaningful way?
- How do we recruit the "right" patients to sit on our hospital councils?
- Why do my leaders seem reluctant to have patients or family members on the board?
- What can I do to address their concerns?
If these questions have crossed your mind, check out the recording of our Aug. 23, 2016 webinar and open discussion addressing the barriers of Patient and Family Engagement.
