Ventilator Associated Events (VAE)

Patients on ventilators are at high risk for developing VAE, which costs U.S. hospitals between $1.03 billion and $1.5 billion annually. VAE extends time spent on a ventilator and the length of hospital stay. Long-term ventilator use can lead to a host of complications, from VAE and aspiration to peptic ulcer disease and gastrointestinal bleeding. Learn more about VAEs »
