Increased Emergency Department Visits Due to Opioid Overdose

​​Emergency department (ED) visits for opioid overdoses increased 30 percent from July 2016 through Sept. 2017, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Five Midwest states had significant rate increases, including 35 percent in Indiana. Increases were reported across every demographic group, and in urban and rural areas. ​
