INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) is pleased to announce the promotion of a key member of its  Laura MC_2019_High-res.jpgadvocacy team and a new hire in the department. Laura McCaffrey has been promoted to Senior Director of Government Relations and Advocacy, after previously serving as the Director of Legislative Relations at the IHA. Prior to IHA, McCaffrey worked at Bose Public Affairs Group for five years where she developed and executed strategy for state national public affairs campaigns with an emphasis on grassroots advocacy and coalition building to advance public policy.

“There is an unprecedented focus on health care policy with major issues like the need to improve Hoosiers’ health status and to strengthen our behavioral health system,” said McCaffrey. “I look forward to working with our IHA members to advocate on behalf of our hospitals and their patients.”

In addition, Trent Fox joined the Association on Aug 26 as Senior Director of Public Policy and Legislative Relations. In this role, Fox will bring his extensive experience in policy analysis and legislative relations to the IHA Advocacy Team.

“Representing all of IHA’s 170 member hospitals and the many thousands of caregivers who work in these facilities across the state is a tremendous honor,” said Fox. “I am excited to work with the IHA team to develop effective policy solutions.”

Fox joins IHA from the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) where he served as Commissioner Kris Box’s Chief of Staff and was previously the ISDH’s Director of Legislative Affairs. Fox has also served as Director of Communications and Legislative Affairs for the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency and was the Deputy Director of Legislative Operations for the Indiana House of Representatives. He received his law degree from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from Indiana State University.

“IHA has a long history of working with the Indiana General Assembly and other stakeholders on health care policy issues, and we are fortunate to have outstanding talent like Laura and Trent to carry on this tradition,” said IHA president Brian Tabor.
