​Jay County Hospital, Portland, and Indiana University Health have signed an agreement for the hospital to join the health system next year. The deal, which goes into effect March 1, brings IU Health's total number of Indiana hospitals to 16.

The hospital has been managed by IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie since 1998, and IU Health says it will assume all assets and liabilities for the hospital once the agreement takes effect.
