Friday, President Trump unveiled his administration's blueprint
to lower prescription drug prices, which also solicits input on potential
actions the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) may take to improve
competition and negotiation and lower costs. On Monday, HHS issued a policy
statement and request for information (RFI) on ways to lower drug prices
and reduce out-of-pocket costs for consumers. HHS identified four priority
challenges related to high drug prices and four overarching strategies it will
pursue to address those challenges. HHS also seeks feedback on specific
proposals and input on a wide range of questions related to the underlying
factors contributing to high and rising drug costs. Stakeholders have 60 days
to provide comments in response to the RFI.
