IHA President Doug Leonard Receives IU Fairbanks School of Public Health Distinguished Alumni Award

The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) is pleased to announce that President Doug Leonard has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award by the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health.

Leonard was honored with the award for his career-long dedication to the health care sector, demonstrating significant professional achievement and leadership within the field.

“Doug embodies everything it takes to be an effective leader in public health and health administration,” said Bryan Mills, Chairman of the IHA Board of Directors. “He has been instrumental in many initiatives that have improved the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of Indiana residents each year.”

A veteran in his field, Leonard has served the health care sector for nearly 40 years. Before joining IHA in 2007, he spent 30 years in administration at Columbus Regional Hospital, serving the last 10 years as CEO. During his tenure as CEO, the hospital became the first Magnet Hospital for Nursing in Indiana and was awarded the AHA Quest for Quality Prize.

Leonard earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and his master's degree in health administration from Indiana University.
