Access to a Variety of Hospital Choices

Some have contended that Indiana suffers from a hospital monopoly problem.  IHA recently asked NERA economic consulting, a global firm of experts known for its academic rigor, objectivity, and real-world industry experience on issues arising from competition, regulation, public policy, strategy, finance, and litigation to evaluate whether Indiana lacks sufficient competition.  NERA concluded that Ball State University’s Center for Business and Economic Research  (CBER) report “provides a misleading picture of Indiana hospital concentration” and that “Indiana’s hospital concentration is consistent with the rest of The United States.” ​​​​
