​​IU Health slashed the percentage of gross patient revenue from self-pay patients in half in large part by increasing its number of financial counselors from 12 to 158. The counselors help eligible patients navigate the confusing array of possibilities to find a commercial insurance product or government program that they qualify for and that is right for them.
